This week's Wildcat Way is Keira Paad! Before school started, she helped organize this year's Freshmen Orientation. She also welcomed freshmen to the building, led one of the tour groups, and helped paint the rock all with a warm and welcoming smile! Welcoming new students to our building and maintaining our positive school culture is just one way that Keira is a contributor to our AHS community!

Parents Great Work on Drop Off and Pick UP This Week!!!
The Back Oval drop off was outstanding and traffic moved well with the New Roundabout and traffic procedures. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Note: the Back Oval drop off closes at 7:35am when the building is secured. Parents, if you are later than 7:35am, you will have to drive around to the Front Oval and drop off at the Student Entrance where the student must check in at the Attendance Office and likely will be marked Tardy by the teacher.
If a student does not have a 1st hour, you will drop your student off at the Front Oval Student Entrance where they will check in at the Attendance Office.
Any pick up for appointments during the school day will be in the Front Oval, and the student must check out at the Attendance Office before leaving. When you call or email Attendance, the student will get a pass to report to the New Attendance Office and exit to the Front Oval to meet you.
Back Oval Pick Up worked well and moved well and remember to stay away from the Front Oval because all buses use that area from 2:20pm - 2:40pm

A Message from Dr. Rabbideau
Dear APS Families, Students, and Staff,
Any day now, the state of Michigan will release assessment results for the MSTEP and SAT. News headlines will highlight the percentage of students who are “proficient” in each grade and subject. While these numbers often draw quick judgments about schools and districts, it is important to remember that they reflect only a fraction of a much bigger story.
State assessments are valuable tools that show how well students have mastered specific content at a point in time. But a single test score does not capture everything we know about student learning or school quality. Many factors play a role, some outside the district’s control, like whether a student was rested or engaged on test day, and others within our control, like the quality of daily instruction and how we respond to ongoing classroom assessments. True student growth and achievement are best measured through a combination of evidence over time, not just one test session.
Ultimately, the purpose of K–12 education is to prepare students for success after graduation, whether in college, career, military, or the trades. One test score does not define a student’s potential, nor does it fully reflect the strength of our schools.
APS will be sharing a more in-depth look at student achievement data at our September Board of Education workshop. We invite all who want a deeper understanding of what these results mean to join us.
Thank you for supporting our students and schools as we continue to focus on what matters most—their growth, their learning, and their future success.
Dress Code Update -- with the first week of school completed, please discuss this along with the information from last week's Update to discuss what is appropriate for school.
My team has worked to address students individually and speak to parents in the process. I appreciate your support at home and please feel free to connect with me with any concerns.
We do not have the clothing closet any longer, so parents will be asked to bring clothing if it is necessary.
Secure Campus Enhancements ~ We can't have deliveries, please discuss it with your students
From the Student/Parent Handbook:
Non-school related personal deliveries for students from commercial businesses such as flower shops, fast food, and bakeries are strongly discouraged. All such deliveries are kept at the Main Office and not given to the student until the conclusion of the school day.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
Student Climate Team will be trained to conduct peer mediation for students who are in conflict with one another. The goal of having peer mediation at AHS is to help create a more positive culture in our school where both sides win and one party doesn't feel as if they are being treated unfairly. Please see Mr. Robarge in Restorative Center (School Success) if you need help resolving an issue. Peer mediators don't take sides or place blame on anyone!
