HOMECOMING

Homecoming is quickly approaching! If you want to bring a guest that is not an AHS student, you must pick up a guest pass in the main office or in the Restorative Center (E103). They must get a signature from the principals of both schools and submit it to the office by the Thursday before the dance. This is the only way to bring a guest, so do not wait on getting the paperwork! Speak to Mr. Thatcher in Leadership for more information.

Would you like a certain song to be played at the dance? Now’s your chance! Fill out suggestions in this Google form or drop off suggestions in the Song Request bin at lunch to have your songs possibly added to the playlist! There are no song requests during the dance, so get your ideas in early! Speak to Mr. Thatcher or any Leadership student for more information.

It’s time to start running for Homecoming court! If you are interested in representing your class and/or taking home the title of King and Queen, grab your applications in the Main Office! Applicants must have at least a 2.0 GPA, must participate in Spirit Week and hallway decorating, and must be positive role models for their peers. Get these completed applications turned back into the Main Office no later than September 16th. Speak to Mr. Thatcher in Leadership for more information.

Spirit Week is almost upon us! Have a great idea for a spirit day? Submit your ideas to the bins in either the Main Office or the Large Commons and you may have your suggestion used this Homecoming! We will accept suggestions until September 16th. Speak to Mr. Thatcher or any Leadership student for more information.

Keep it appropriate for school. Keep it short and sweet. After you're done, put it in the box in the main office. If it's inappropriate we’ll ask you to change it, if it's the same as someone else's we’ll ask both of you to change it. KEEP IT NEAT!

DUE DECEMBER 20 to the box in the Main Office

Up North Prevention

Up North Prevention would like to welcome Alpena High School students back for a wonderful new school year! Up North Prevention has an office at the school this year and its located off the Large Commons.  Please feel free to stop by and chat with Chet Spencer, the Prevention Speacialist, assigned to Alpena High School.  He will be working with students throughout the year and will be communicating with families as he starts sessions with students.  Welcome back everybody!!!!!!

Parent Pickup on Garden St.

Please remember when picking your student up at the end of the day on Garden Street that there are "NO PARKING ~ Standing" signs on the East & West side of the street.  The Alpena City Police Department have had calls this week from residents asking to alert drivers that parking/standing is not allowed.  I will be working with Officer Collegnon to come up with a better plan for pickup at the end of the day ~ please watch for an email early in the week to address the concern of Garden Street residents. It is also dangerous for students to cross this street with busy traffic when school lets out.  It is advised to pick up only on the West side of Garden street.  You can also make a plan with your student to wait 5 minutes until traffic subsides and meet you at a pre-planned location on the other streets adjacent to Garden Street to avoid congestion to an already busy location.

Thank you for your cooperation.

We are very excited to welcome new and former members at our first meeting on September 12th @ 2:30! Meeting will be held at the YVC office in the media center.

HOW TO REPORT THREATS/CONCERNS

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
