Counselor Corner:
Seniors: Don't forget that October is Free College Application Month for several Michigan colleges. You can either apply to colleges directly on their website or use the Common Application at www.commonapp.org. The Common App. will require you to write some essays.
Seniors: Have you made your appointment to see your counselor yet? You need to do that SOON. Counselor Appointment Form
All Students: We are 1/3 of the way through this semester, we have 2/3 left to go. It is time to kick it into gear and get some school work done! It is not too late to pass your classes if you get working now. If you do not allow yourself to earn any more "0's" for the semester you should still be able to pass. Start fresh now....keep on track and moving forward. Do the current work first and when you have time, work on missing assignments. Ask your teachers which assignment(s) you should concentrate on doing first. YOU CAN DO IT!
Sophomores: See Mrs. Taratuta in the Media Center if you're interested in upcoming college visits to various Michigan colleges.
Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors: ACC Visitation Day: 10/20!! Go visit ACC on the morning of 10/20 to look at their many program offerings! ACC has so much to offer to our students. Go to the E House Office to pick up a Parent Permission form.
<ALL STUDENTS - Check your emails every day to see if your counselor sent a pass for an appointment. Even if YOU didn't make an appointment, your counselor may have sent one in order to see you. CHECK YOUR EMAILS FOR APPOINTMENTS>
The Sunset Project will be presenting to all AHS health classes October 23. Click here for more information. Please notify your child's health teacher if you do not want them to participate.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
PEER MEDIATION
AHS now has trained student peer mediators to help solve conflicts between students! If you are in conflict with another student, please see me in Room E110 or you can e-mail me at robargeb@alpenaschools.com Remember, peer mediators are trained not to take sides or place blame on anyone.
