This week's Wildcat Way is Jack Supiran! Jack represents AHS as an all around role model as to what a student athlete and good citizen is at AHS. His character and hardwork are witnessed in the classroom, the hallways, and on the athletic field. We are happy that Jack is a representative for AHS and plans to take his athletic & academic talents to the next level following high school.
Congratulations Jack Supiran on your Selection...
Celebrations
Thank you to our great Kitchen Staff led by Deb Ballor putting on a fantastic Holiday Lunch last week for students and staff. Our Admin team along Mr. Poli and Mr. Fitzpatrick, were fortunate to serve them during all three lunches.
Happy Holiday to you all

Vision Screening For All 9th Graders
District Health Department No. 4 will be at AHS on Monday and Tuesday, December 16th and 17th, for vision screening for all 9th graders. This screening provides the testing required by Act. No. 368 of the Public Health Code of 1978.

Winter Band Concert ~ Monday, December 16th @ 7 AHS Auditorium
Leadership will be selling tickets for the Holiday Movies (12/20) all of next week during all three lunches. Tickets are $5 for each movie you attend. To attend, you must not be on:
Academic Probation
This includes not failing three or more classes or missing over 10% of the school year so far. If this applies to you, you will not be eligible to buy a ticket without talking with your Assistant Principal.
You must also get a waiver from the teachers’ class that you’ll be missing to buy a ticket; these will be given to you by your 2nd hour teachers on Monday.
If you have any questions, let Mr. Thatcher know!
Counseling
Counselors will be meeting with each 10th grade student on Monday, December 16th, throughout the day. During their English course for the day, students will have a brief check in with counselors to review current grades, semester two schedules, and the opportunity to discuss the status of their sophomore year.
GRADES: You still have some time to get your grades up before the end of the semester which ends on January 17th (Jan 10th for online classes). Now is a good time to talk to your teachers about what you can do over the holiday break to improve your grade(s). Find out what assignments you can still do for credit so that you don't end up needing to repeat a class.

Emails ~ Are you checking it multiple times in day?
In today’s fast-paced world, staying informed and connected is essential for success in education. Email is one of our primary tools for communication, and checking it regularly is crucial. Here’s why we encourage you to check your email daily, and ideally multiple times a day:
Timely Updates: Important announcements, schedule changes, or updates about assignments or events are often shared via email. Checking frequently ensures you don’t miss anything critical.
Opportunities: Many opportunities, such as scholarships, extracurricular activities, or community events, are time-sensitive. Promptly seeing and acting on these can make all the difference.
Teacher Communication: Teachers frequently send reminders, feedback, or additional resources. Staying on top of these communications helps students stay organized and prepared.
Avoiding Overwhelm: By checking regularly, you can handle messages in smaller, manageable chunks instead of letting them pile up and risk missing something important.
Emergency Notices: In the rare event of urgent school updates (like weather closures or safety alerts), email is often the first place to look.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring open and effective communication. By making it a habit to check emails regularly, you’ll help foster a smoother and more successful school year.

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
Student Climate Team will be trained to conduct peer mediation for students who are in conflict with one another. The goal of having peer mediation at AHS is to help create a more positive culture in our school where both sides win and one party doesn't feel as if they are being treated unfairly. Please see Mr. Robarge in E110 (School Success) if you need help resolving an issue. Peer mediators don't take sides or place blame on anyone!
