IF YOU DON'T HAVE A 2ND HOUR - Your ticket will be in the main office.
After May 23rd we will handle the rest of the distribution out of E206.
There are less than 50 yearbooks available for purchase and they will be $85. They will not be available for sale until after the 23rd.
After May 23rd students may come to E206 to see Ms. O’Neil during 1st hour and 4th hour to pick up pre-orders or to purchase a book.
As we distribute this year’s yearbooks, we want to take a moment to recognize the hard work and dedication of our student-led yearbook team. These students have invested countless hours designing, editing, and organizing the content to create a special keepsake that captures the spirit of our school year.
We kindly ask for your support in encouraging kindness and understanding as these students share the final product. Like any creative endeavor, the yearbook is a labor of love—not perfection—and a valuable learning experience for all involved. It is very difficult to have your final classroom project evaluated by the entire school community.
Thank you for celebrating their efforts with us and for helping to foster a positive and respectful environment for our young creators

Amazing Prom 2025 Pictures done by Mrs. Brown ridge ~ thank you so much for sharing your talent with the students and families. They are beautiful.
ATTENDANCE AND THE VALUE AT BEING PRESENT AND ON TIME
I’d like to take a moment again as the year is coming to a close to remind everyone about the importance of being present and on time. Attendance is not just about being in the classroom—it’s about showing up for your education and taking responsibility for your success. Every day you are here, you have the opportunity to learn, grow, and engage with your teachers and classmates. Missing even one class can mean missing out on important lessons and experiences that help you build the skills needed for your future.
Being on time ~ avoid being tardy ~ is equally important. Being late to class is disruptive—not only to your own learning but to the learning of others. It’s also a habit that can carry over into the rest of your life. Being on time is a key skill for success, whether in school, at a job, or in any other area of life. Employers, colleges, and others expect you to be reliable and punctual, and practicing this now helps build that crucial habit for your future.
Let’s all work together to make sure we are on time and present every day, ready to learn and succeed. Remember, your education is an investment in your future, and being here—on time—every day is an important part of that.
Please be watching your student(s) attendance in the upcoming weeks. We saw an increase in single hour absences this week and more students leaving the building. AHS is a secure campus which means students cannot come and go and since ACC is now done, students must stay in the building when arriving. Yes, this includes lunches as well, student may not come and go and cannot order food. AHS Door Greeter/Main Office cannot accept any deliveries. Please help us with this and discuss it with your student(s).
Thank you!
Tardy Sweep
In response to our Climate Team's concern with tardies as the year draws to a close and the lack of urgency for students to get to class prepared for the hour, Admin and support team will continue with Tardy Sweeps.
I am confident that we can do better with tardies and attendance; being in school and engaged, increases student academic success significantly.
Sickness has been a big concern too, and it is vital that you login to ParentVue and note absences or call The Attendance Office 989-358-5289 or 989-358-5200 to report sickness.
Students can stay current in all classes by using Brightspace and emailng teachers with questions.
BUS NOTES
Students need a "purple bus note" from the office to ride a bus different from their regular bus. Parents can either write a note that the students bring to the office of which we attach to the purple note or they can call the office and give us permission to write the note. It is very helpful if you have the following information when calling the school:
The number of the bus they are riding.
The address of where they are going/students name.
Parent phone number.
Please have your child pick up the note from the office, we don't always have runners to deliver them.
Thank you for your help, we really appreciate it.
Some end-of-the-year reminders:
If you have failed any core classes, consider signing up for Summer Rebound.
Check in with your teachers if you are concerned about your grades..... there may still be time to pass!
Stressed about finals?? Now is a good time to review your notes, stay after for tutoring (Monday and Wednesday after school in the Wildcat Den)
Emails ~ Are you checking it multiple times a day?
In today’s fast-paced world, staying informed and connected is essential for success in education. Email is one of our primary tools for communication, and checking it regularly is crucial. Here’s why we encourage you to check your email daily, and ideally multiple times a day:
Timely Updates: Important announcements, schedule changes, or updates about assignments or events are often shared via email. Checking frequently ensures you don’t miss anything critical.
Opportunities: Many opportunities, such as scholarships, extracurricular activities, or community events, are time-sensitive. Promptly seeing and acting on these can make all the difference.
Teacher Communication: Teachers frequently send reminders, feedback, or additional resources. Staying on top of these communications helps students stay organized and prepared.
Avoiding Overwhelm: By checking regularly, you can handle messages in smaller, manageable chunks instead of letting them pile up and risk missing something important.
Emergency Notices: In the rare event of urgent school updates (like weather closures or safety alerts), email is often the first place to look.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring open and effective communication. By making it a habit to check emails regularly, you’ll help foster a smoother and more successful school year.

Decision Day is May 30th! We are asking ALL seniors to email smithme@alpenaschools.com with a senior picture, childhood picture, and brief description of their post secondary plans. This way everyone can be included in our Decision Day celebrations! Deadline for sharing these is May 28th! PARENTS!!! Enter to win a $20 gift card of your choice when you submit these three things on behalf of your student. I'll send you a picture of their slide to make your entry official. Slides will look somewhat similar to the ones above. For those asking, what is Decision Day?! Well, it's a national celebration that typically highlights where students decide to go to college. We feel like ALL decisions about our students' future are important and will highlight them all. On Decision Day we have a whole school assembly to celebrate the seniors choices and all grade levels transition to their next spot in the gym for future assemblies. This will be our last assembly this year and May 30th is the Seniors last Official Day of school. These celebrations have taken place the last three years and are becoming an annual rite of passage. Community members and college reps will be present to help us celebrate our Seniors! Please send Melisa Smith a senior picture, childhood picture, and brief description of the post secondary plans. Thank you!

OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
Student Climate Team will be trained to conduct peer mediation for students who are in conflict with one another. The goal of having peer mediation at AHS is to help create a more positive culture in our school where both sides win and one party doesn't feel as if they are being treated unfairly. Please see Mr. Robarge in E110 (School Success) if you need help resolving an issue. Peer mediators don't take sides or place blame on anyone!
