Counselors will be meeting with Juniors the week of September 27th on Tuesday and Wednesday.  On Tuesday during hours 4th-6th , Juniors will be coming out of their English 11 class to meet with their counselor in the E House Office and the commons. On Wednesday, during hours 1st - 3rd, Juniors will leave their English 11 class to meet with the counselors in the commons. Students should bring their chromebook.  Ask your students to think of questions, concerns, or information they might have for us.

College & Career Night will be held on Monday October 5th from 5:30-7pm. Several colleges & universities from across the State along with many Military branches will be in attendance. If you are looking for a Career in Aviation, Mechanics, Law Enforcement or Massage Therapy, we will have representatives on site as well. You don’t want to miss this event! • Parents: There is a bonus Financial Readiness Presentation in the Wildcat Den at 4:30 p.m.  After the presentation, you can head over to the gymnasium with your child for College & Career Night.      

Counselor Meeting Requests

Counselors are currently working through Minute Meetings with each grade level. Freshmen and Seniors have already met with their counselor. Juniors and Sophomores are next for minute meetings. Please be patient as counselors will address any concerns you may have during your minute meeting. Seniors if you have not yet met with your counselor, please request a meeting as soon as possible.

We’re entering autumn in Northern Michigan! Before we head into the cold and snow, spend some time enjoying the outdoors and refreshing your brain!

• • 1. 1. 1. 1. 1. Spending time outdoors is shown to improve your focus, lower your stress, heighten your mood, and reduce your risk of developing detrimental health conditions.

                2. It doesn’t even have to be in the middle of the woods! Walk down the block, sit outside your house, do your homework at the park; do something to change your scenery. Being outside and out of your standard environment can help to improve your mood and even help your sleep!

                3. Even adding some greenery to your inside spaces can improve your focus, memory, and tolerance for stress.

Dear APS Online & ACES Families,

I am writing to inform you about an important state requirement that affects all of our online students: Michigan Count Day on Wednesday October 7, 2026.

On this date, the State of Michigan requires us to report student engagement in online learning. To ensure accurate reporting, each student must complete at least one assignment in each of their online courses on October 7th. This is not optional - it is a state mandate that helps us demonstrate the value and impact of our online program.

Your student's participation on this day is critical. If assignments are not completed in all courses, it may affect how our school reports engagement data to the state, which can have implications for our program's funding and recognition.

Please help us by reminding your student about this requirement and ensuring they log into all their courses on October 7, 2026, to complete at least one assignment in each of their assigned classes. Please do not finish a class before this date. If your student has any questions about their courses or assignments, please reach out to our online learning support team.

Your voice matters—if you're 18 or older, take the first step in shaping your community by registering to vote today!

16 and 17-year-olds can now preregister to vote in Michigan. 

To preregister to vote in Michigan, an individual must:

• Be a Michigan resident

• Be a United States citizen

• Be at least 16 years of age

• Not be currently serving a sentence in jail or prison

Encourage young people you know to preregister to vote now so they can cast a ballot when they turn 18!
