Elementary Gifted Educator

Salary Range:                     $45,000 - $78,019  

        

Job Summary

The Elementary Gifted Educator will collaborate with administrators, teachers, and students to plan, organize, and provide gifted instruction and enrichment activities to identified students.  The Gifted Educator will work in one or more schools based on the number of identified gifted students in each elementary school.  The Elementary Gifted Educator will work as part of a collaborative division team to create a consistent gifted curriculum for identified elementary students.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      Provide K-5 gifted instruction for identified students in 2 to 3 schools (based on gifted enrollment)

      Meet bi-monthly with other gifted teachers and district staff to develop grade level instructional activities and projects

      Assist with gifted identification process including gifted testing

      Serve as a member of the gifted eligibility team

      Provide classroom teachers with activities and strategies for enrichment

      Assist with the planning of in-service for the gifted program

      Performs other duties as assigned by district staff

 

Minimum Requirements

      Hold a valid Virginia teaching license

      Gifted endorsement (or in process)

      Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Terms of Employment

This position is a 10 month (200 day) position.  Salary to be established by the school board.

 

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board’s policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
