Purchasing Assistant (Part-time)

TITLE:         Purchasing Assistant (Part-Time)

 

Applications will be taken to create an applicant pool for the position(s) of Purchasing Assistant for

clerical duties and warehouse duties for the Franklin County Public Schools, Department of Purchasing.  A maximum of two (2) part-time positions will be filled from applicant pool.

 

The Purchasing Assistant(s) will be a dynamic individual that is a self-starter that works under the

direction of the Coordinator of Purchasing.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:        Must be able to lift 50 Ibs. unassisted and be able to work in hot weather

                                      conditions. Ideal candidates should have a combination oftraining and

                                        experience in purchasing, perpetual inventory control, bookkeeping, using                                   computers and other office equipment effectively, using heavy equipment and

                                        vehicles safely, as well as delivery of complex supply orders effectively.

 

REPORTS TO:                  Coordinator of Purchasing

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Clerical duties may include but are not limited to:

 

• Preparing purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining approval for

requisitioning department or school.

 

• Assisting in the administering solicitations for the school board as assigned by the Coordinator

of Purchasing.

 

• Maintaining adequate records as directed by the Coordinator of Purchasing and in accordance

with School Board policy.

 

• Assisting the Coordinator of Purchasing in the collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and

trends.

 

Warehouse duties may include but are not limited to:

 

• Verifying purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear

items as well as resolving backordered items.

 

• Assisting in the distribution of supplies and equipment as well as assisting with surplus property

management and disposal.

 

• Maintaining adequate records as directed by the Coordinator of Purchasing and in accordance

with School Board policy.

 

• Assisting the Coordinator of Purchasing in the collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and

trends.

 

TERMS OF

EMPLOYMENT:             Salary and conditions to be established by the School Board.

 

 

EVALUATION:                Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School                                  Board’s policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified                                            personnel.
