Adult Basic Education Teacher (Part-Time)

JOB DESCRIPTION – ADULT BASIC EDUCATION TEACHER (PART-TIME)

The Adult Basic Education / High School Equivalency instructor will work part-time to provide remedial-level instruction in reading, writing, and math skills to prepare students to pass HSE exams.  

Reports to: Coordinator of Adult Education

Qualifications:

• Hold a Virginia teaching license

• Have subject emphasis on Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, and Mathematics

Requirements:

• Must be flexible and able to work with adult students at various entry educational levels.

• Teaching settings include one-on-one, small groups and large groups of students.

• Must be able to work effectively with adult students from different cultural, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.

• Must have considerable instructional experience, preferably in an adult environment.

• Are expected to develop skills through professional development and maintain certifications as mandated by the VDOE’s Office of Career, Technical & Adult Education (OCTAE).

• Must attend monthly teams meetings and professional development opportunities.

• Must complete Adult Ed trainings

Terms of Employment:  Salary and conditions to be established by the Franklin County School Board.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
