Secondary School Guidance Secretary

JOB DESCRIPTION – SECONDARY SCHOOL GUIDANCE SECRETARY 

The secondary school guidance counselor assists guidance counselors to be successful in their roles.

Qualifications:

• Possess a  GED, high school diploma, or higher

• Be at least 21 years of age

• Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills

• Proficient in computer use

• Able to multi-task

• Detail oriented and maintain confidentiality

• Ability to work successfully with parents, students and co-workers

Reports to: School Principal

Performance Responsibilities:

• Maintain student records

• Updating Power School (the student data base)

• Filing

• Scheduling guidance appointments

• Preparing print shop orders and copying

• Maintaining guidance records room

• Preparing and mailing transcripts

• Answering telephone

• Preparing the Program of Studies

• Preparing the Scholarship Booklet

• Assist colleagues in Student Services, as needed

• Other duties that may be assigned

Terms of Employment:   This is a 12-month position.  Salary and conditions to be established by the Franklin County School Board.

Evaluation:   Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the school board’s policy and administrative regulations of classified personnel.
