TITLE:     SPECIAL EDUCATION BUS AIDE

PRIMARY FUNCTION:     To perform responsible support work in assisting with the transportation of  special education students to and from school.

QUALIFICATIONS:         1.   Must have a high school diploma or GED.

       2.   Must demonstrate a previous dependable work ethic and attendance record.

3.   Must have acceptable standards and believe in the importance of safe and efficient transportation.

4.   Must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable and able in dealing with the special children, their families and transportation staff.

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation & Facilities Supervisor of Transportation

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.  To provide help to the school bus driver in managing the behavior of the students.

2.  To provide help to the school bus driver in assisting special education students boarding and leaving the bus.

3.  To assist students with special transportation needs such as wheelchairs, braces, crutches, etc.

4.  To assist with the security of the students on the bus and observes the special needs of all children being transported.

5.  To attend training sessions as needed.

6.  To perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or coordinator.

TERMS OF

EMPLOYMENT: Salary and conditions established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of classified

personnel.
