Department Secretary - 12-Month Position - Central Office

JOB DESCRIPTION – DEPARTMENT SECRETARY - 12-MONTH POSITION – CENTRAL OFFICE

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years of age

• Hold a high school diploma, GED certificate or higher

• Good work and attendance record

• Excellent command of English language, both written and oral

• Strong computer skills

Reports to:       Director of Human Resources

Performance Responsibilities:

• All paperwork, background checks, list to board members and secretaries that deal with the employment of substitute teachers

• Background checks for interns, student teachers, observations and practicums (approvals, certificates, payment to payroll for supervising teachers, etc.

• Set up meetings for Volunteer Orientation (information to all principals and volunteer coordinators)

• Background checks for all volunteers (classroom and field trips)

• Schedule CPR training and issue certificates and maintain records

• Schedule Job Fairs (for the HR Director) for the  recruitment of qualified employees

• Assist in the posting of vacancies in the MUNIS applicant tracking program

• Assist in School Board correspondence

• Send out contracts to DSIP employees and keep an accurate, up-to-date list

• Maintain up-to-date files on instructional personnel

• Assist in scheduling interviews for professional and instructional personnel

• Assist with paperwork needed for securing a Virginia teacher license for new professional personnel

• Assist with the paperwork for recertification points requests

• Other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Human Resources

Terms of Employment:  Twelve-month position.  Salary to be determined by the Franklin County School Board.

Evaluation:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the board’s policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
