Coach (Head Boys Soccer)

Job Title:  Head Coach Soccer (Boys) - High School

 

Reports To:  Principal/Athletic Administrator

 

 

Job Summary

This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in soccer.

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

Some experience as a wrestling coach or assistant coach at the high school or college level preferred.  Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.  Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport.  Must be able to establish and foster effective working relationships with school administrators, parents and students.

Must completed VHSL Coaches Education course, NFHS Concussion Course, Safety and First Aid, Child Abuse Recognition Training.  Concussion training must be updated annually.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The employee must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job.  Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time, exhibit manual dexterity, see and read a computer, hear and understand speech at normal noise levels.  Possess physical agility and strength to lift 25 pounds or higher.  The applicant must be able to step, stoop, climb stairs and reach overhead.

 

Work Environment

The work environment is characteristic of a school setting.  Duties are normally performed in a gymnasium setting.  Duties may be performed away from school and the noise level is generally moderate to loud.
