Position Title: STEM Coach

Reports To: Building Principal

Position Summary

Under the direction of the principal, this instructional leader position will develop STEM curriculum and will support and collaborate with teachers in promoting interdisciplinary STEM activities into the core curriculum. This position is on the Teacher pay scale

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

● Plans and delivers high-quality STEM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods aligned to Va SOLs, NGSS, NCTM and/or NETS

● Works collaboratively with staff to develop and implement STEM curriculum across the grade levels

● Provide leadership, staff development and instructional support in the integration of STEM to support student achievement

● Coaches teachers on STEM initiatives, 21st century skills and instructional best practices in the STEM area.

● Collaborates in the evaluation, selection and implementation of instructional STEM materials and software.

● Uses technology to promote learning, creativity and collaboration

● Organizes, develops and coordinates special STEM events/activities.

● Shares STEM events and activities through social media.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Virginia License in Elementary Education

• Masters or  additional coursework in STEM-related areas preferred

• Proven ability to apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration at high levels.

• Knowledge of inquiry and project based learning.

• Demonstrated knowledge of differentiation for high achieving and struggling learners.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning.

• Strong organizational skills.

Evaluation

Evaluated by designated administrator according to the District’s evaluation procedures.
