Job Title: Driver’s Education Behind the Wheel Instructor
Primary Function: To develop and implement a Driver’s Education Behind the Wheel instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible education for
each student following Virginia Department of Education and Division of Motor Vehicles guidelines.
Qualifications:
· Must beat least 21 years of age
· Hold a valid Virginia teaching license with specific endorsement in Driver’s Education.
· Strong written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Performance
Responsibilities:
· Coordinate the implementation of the Driver’s Education Behind the Wheel Program for Franklin County High School
· Work closely with part time behind the wheel instructors to ensure implementation of the program for our students. This includes scheduling of
driving sessions.
· Organize and coordinate all records for Behind the Wheel Program.
· Follow Virginia state requirements for the seven day behind the wheel program per VDOE and DMV, including range and road sessions.
· Perform Driving skills examination on day seven. Evaluate for successful completion or failure. Award 180 day temporary driving license as
appropriate.
· Perform regular equipment checks for drivers education vehicles, including fueling and wash/clean when needed.
· Oversee upkeep of driving range to meet standards.
· Communicate with parents and students about schedules, waiting list, and individual student progress.
· Comply with school and school board policies and regulations,
· Practice and promote positive interaction with and among administration, faculty and staff,
· Relate positively to parents and other community representatives,
· Demonstrate professional growth,
· Help promote a positive school climate/environment,
· Prompt and accurate with required records and reports,
· Demonstrate command of standard English, both spoken and written,

· Exhibit evidence of effective lessons plans, and utilize a variety of appropriate materials and resources.

· Communicate lesson objectives and its importance to students,
· Utilize appropriate and varied teaching techniques and learning activities,
· Use out-of-class assignments, when appropriate to support instructional objectives, and maintain an effective system of monitoring student
progress and to inform appropriate persons.
5. Classroom Management:
· Maintain discipline appropriate to learning situation,
· Keep students on task, and use positive reinforcement and constructive criticism to maintain good student discipline.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month contract. Salary to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy and administrative regulations of certificated
personnel.
