Assistant Coach - Lacrosse

Job Description:  Assistant Coach -  Lacrosse

This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so they might achieve a high level of skill, as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in lacrosse.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Must hold a GED, highs school diploma or higher.

• Experience as a lacrosse coach or assistant coach at the high school level or college level.

• Possess effective coaching techniques and skills.

• Possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport.

• Able to establish and foster effective working relationships with school administrators, parents and students.

• Must complete VHSL Coaches Education course, NFHS Concussion Course, Safety and First Aid, and Child Abuse Recognition Training.

Reports To:  School Principal/Athletic Administrator/Head Coach

Responsibilities:

1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all district, regional and state policies and procedures.

2. Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in the sport.

3. Aids the head coaching in enforcing discipline policies and emphasizes sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles.

4. Plans and sets up activities, practices and games.

5. Works with the head coach to maintain a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times.

6. Develops appropriate practice plans and schedules as dictated by the head coach.

7. Supervises students in locker rooms, home and away games, ensure appropriate behaviors.

8. Travels with student athletes on the team both to and from away games.

9. Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance of equipment and storage facilities. Assists head coach in providing a yearly inventory of all equipment.

10. Works with the head coach in preparing practice and game schedules.

11. Maintains necessary proper forms (student participation forms, sign in rosters, medical).

12. Maintains necessary records and completes required paperwork in a specified time and manner.

13. Works with the head coach and athletic administrator to ensure athletic eligibility.

14. Ensures that appropriate rules and regulations regarding the conduct of athletic activities and athletes are followed.

15. Works with the head coach to ensure that medical and safety requirements are adhered to.

16. Interacts with parents, students, staff, opponents, officials and resolves conflict conflict in a professional manner.

17. Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquiries.

18. Professionally represents the school at all athletic functions and interactions with parents, community and staff.

19. Is punctual to all practices, games and athletic functions.

20. Monitors academic progress of all team members.

21. Other duties as may be assigned.

Terms of Employment:  Salary to be determined by the School Board.
