School Nutrition Employee

JOB DESCRIPTION – SCHOOL NUTRITION EMPLOYEE

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years of age

• Must have a high school diploma, GED or higher

• Experience with food service and/or school nutrition program preferred but not required

Reports to: School Nutrition Manager and Coordinator of Food Services

Job Responsibilities:

• Comply with required school division policies, health standards, sanitation procedures and demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices.

• Follow attendance rules.

• Practice good personal hygiene.

• Manage multiple tasks and use time efficiently.

• Prepare food according to planned menus, standardized recipes, established food preparation methods, and mandated nutritional requirements.

• Follow written and oral directions.

• Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and monitor temperatures at all times.

• Inspect food and supplies for quality.

• Perform custodial and dish room duties as assigned by Manager.

• Prepare and serve meals on a large scale in a close fast-paced environment using safe food handling procedures.

• Fill in for other staff if someone is absent.

• Operate point-of-sale computer system during serving times.

• Maintain serving line by replenishing food as needed.

• Maintain garbage containers.

• Be courteous and pleasant to all customers and co-workers.

• Clean and sanitize counters, equipment, utensils, and tables.

• Clean storage, food preparation and serving areas.

• Organize and set up equipment and workstations.

• Receive deliveries and rotate stock.

• Store items in designated areas complying with temperature requirements and food spoilage guidelines.

• Report equipment problems or unsafe conditions to Manager.

• Maintain accurate recordkeeping of food and supplies used for inventory and auditing purposes.

• Attend and participate in formal and informal training.

• Help maintain a neat, clean and safe working environment.

• Exhibit the professional behavior of a reliable employee by maintaining confidential information.

• Perform other duties assigned by Manager.

Terms of Employment:  Salary and terms of employment are established by the Franklin County School Board.

Employee Evaluation:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with Franklin County School Board’s policy and regulations of classified personnel.
