High-Intensity Tutor (Reading)

                                                         Bachelor’s Degree - $25 / Hour

                                                         Teaching License or Master’s - $30 / Hour

 

Job Summary

This position will provide high-intensity academic reading intervention to students in grades 6-8 based on statewide assessment results, and in collaboration with classroom instruction.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Non-licensed tutors must complete the ALL in Tutoring online training that will be available on the Virginia Department of Education ALL in Tutoring
      website for school divisions

·         Ability to facilitate strong, positive relationships with students and understand students’ learning needs in reading

·         Incorporate progress monitoring into tutoring sessions in order to track student learning progress

·         Possess effective reading and writing skills

·         Possess effective oral and written communication skills

·         Possess the personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, and parents

·         Ability to navigate online platforms

·         Acceptance of flexible work schedule

·         Dependability and punctuality required

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements

·         High school diploma or equivalent required

·         Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred

·         Previous teaching or tutoring experience preferred

·         Hold or be eligible to hold a Virginia teaching license preferred

Terms of Employment

Temporary, part-time position not to exceed 27.5 hours per week.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board’s policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of personnel.
