School Psychologist Intern

TITLE:                   SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST INTERN

PRIMARY FUNCTION:            The school psychologist intern will be responsible for conducting comprehensive psycho-educational assessments, participating on various school teams, and consulting with parents and teachers to provide recommendations to support students both at school and home.  The intern will also assist with functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans.      

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:      Extensive knowledge of acceptable psychological testing procedures and practices is required.  Knowledge of special education laws and regulations is required.  Candidates must be knowledgeable of school law and the legal provisions related to childcare.  The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to function effectively as a team member in determining appropriate services for the children through such meetings as Child Study, Eligibility, IEP, etc.  Interested applicants must be enrolled in a state approved program in school psychology at the master’s degree level.

 

 

REPORTS TO:                       Director of Pupil Personnel Services

 

 

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES:  1.  Conduct assessments and evaluate the needs and                                                                          educational programs of referred students while under the                                                               supervision of another School Psychologist and / or placing                                                             University program 

 

                                                2.  Plan and assist in implementation of programs to enable                                                                 students to attain appropriate achievement and adjustment.

 

                                                3.  Consult with teachers and parents regarding such needs.

 

                                                4.  Serve in other related functions as requested by the Director                                                of Pupil Personnel Services.

 

 

TERMS OF

EMPLOYMENT:                      $20,000 stipend for the year and other terms established by the                                          School Board.

 

 

EVALUATION:             Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in                                                                         accordance with the School Board’s policy and administrative                                                         regulations on evaluation of instructional personnel.
