JOB DESCRIPTION – ADULT BASIC EDUCATION TEACHER  - English As A Second Language  (PART-TIME)

 

The Adult Basic Education English As A Second Language instructor will work part-time to provide remedial-level instruction in reading, writing, and math skills to prepare students to pass HSE exams. 

 

 

Reports to: Coordinator of Adult Education

 

 

Qualifications:

·         Have ESOL teaching experience that can be verified

·         VA Teaching License (not required, but beneficial)

 

 

Requirements:

·         Must be flexible and able to work with adult students at various entry educational levels.

·         Teaching settings include one-on-one, small groups and large groups of students.

·         Must be able to work effectively with adult students from different cultural, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.

·         Must have considerable instructional experience, preferably in an adult environment.

·         Expected to develop skills through professional development and maintain certifications as mandated by the VDOE’s Office of Career, Technical & Adult   
      Education (OCTAE).

·         Must attend monthly teams meetings and professional development opportunities.

·         Must complete Adult Ed trainings

 

 

Terms of Employment:  Salary and conditions to be established by the Franklin County School Board.

 

 

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified
                        personnel.
