Routing Coordinator

TITLE: 

ROUTING COORDINATOR 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: 

To efficiently coordinate and maintain the safe and orderly transportation of all students. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Must have a high school diploma or GED. A two or four year degree is 

     preferable.

2.  Must demonstrate a previous dependable work ethic and attendance 

     record.

 3. Must have acceptable standards and believe in the importance of safe 

     and efficient school transportation.

4.  Must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable and able

     in deal with the public.

 5. Must possess advanced computer software skills.

 

REPORTS TO: 

Supervisor of Transportation

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1..To enter and maintain data within our routing software.. This data 

includes, but is not limited to: student name, demographic information, bus number, pick up/drop off locations with respective times and emergency contact information,

2. To manipulate the routing software to add/delete students from the database.

3. To meet with drivers to discuss the students assigned to them and to 

update any new students as well as delete or re-assign students.

4. To provide drivers with an accurate list of students riding their bus along 

with the times they are picked up and discharged.

5. To assist in optimizing the routing software as a means of providing 

efficient and safe bus routes.

6. To maintain an effective channel of communication with the 

parents/guardians of the students being transported.

7. To become very knowledgeable with the location of roads within the 

county.

8.  To become very knowledgeable with all bus routes.

9.. To assist in communicating with school administrators and parents 

regarding changes in routes.

10. To provide parents/guardians with the bus number and pick 

 up/discharge times for their child.

11. To secure a CDL with a school bus/passenger endorsement. 

 

12. To maintain a list of substitute bus drivers along with phone numbers 

and demographic data.

13. To secure substitutes for any driver that is absent from work.

14. To advise the supervisor of transportation of any specific equipment or 

other items that need to be included in the budget.

15. To attend workshops, conferences and/or seminars to keep updated on 

new equipment, new laws, and other information relative to school bus 

transportation.

16. To provide in-service training to school bus drivers as needed.

17. To maintain a professional working relationship with students, parents 

and staff.

18. To develop and maintain good work habits emphasizing punctuality, 

effective use of time, safety, thoroughness and teamwork.

19. To accept any additional job duties that may be deemed appropriate and vital for the safe and orderly operation of school bus transportation. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and conditions established by the Board. 

EVALUATION 

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of supervisory personnel.
