Lee Cheatham Complex Custodian

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To make the complex grounds a safe, clean, attractive and comfortable environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.        Demonstrate a previous dependable work and work attendance record,

2.       Ability to work without being continually supervised and can set and keep a routine work schedule,

3.       Have acceptable standards for keeping the grounds clean, safe and attractive, and

4.       High school diploma or GED and at least 21 years of age.

REPORTS TO:  Director of Operations

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.       Mop, sweep, vacuum  rooms, halls and other assigned areas daily and remove trash from the building

2.       Clean restrooms daily, including the cleaning and disinfecting of urinals, sinks, and commodes; to check periodically through the day to see that the restrooms are properly used and that the deodorization procedures remain effective,

3.       Attend the heating, ventilating and cooling systems daily as  required for proper maintenance (fire boilers, clean fire tubes and make maintenance checks),

4.       Cooperate with the maintenance department in the  servicing of major appliances and equipment,

5.       Provide emergency clean-up service and make minor repairs and adjustments in the building (replace florescent tubes, repair leaking faucets, tighten door knobs, etc.),

6.   Perform the necessary grounds keeping duties to keep the grounds safe, clean and attractive (mow and/or request mowing service, trim shrubs, pick up debris, spray insects, remove snow, de-ice walks, and entrance ways, etc.),

7.   Attend to the daily security of the building, including opening and locking the building(s), closing windows, and setting alarms,

8.   Cooperate with faculty and staff and give them assistance when feasible with special programs,

9.   Attend to the summer reconditioning needs of the grounds: refinish floors, wash windows, clean light fixtures, walls and other equipment; polish wood trim and desks, shampoo carpets and other such reconditioning tasks as may be scheduled to ready the complex for a new year, and

10.   Perform other duties, if needed.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Salary and conditions to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
