Paraprofessional
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To assist teachers in providing for the individual needs of the students in order for each student to achieve his/her maximum academic and social potential.
Qualifications:
· have at least 60 hours of college credit, pass the ParaPro tests or have earned a
higher education diploma,
· be at least 21 years of age,
· good physical and emotional health,
· possess good character and leadership qualities, and
· display an interest and ability in working with students with disabilities.
Reports to: Administrator, Special Education Coordinator (if applicable), and the
teacher of students with disabilities
Performance Responsibilities:
· comply with designated work hour schedules,
· comply with assignments and extracurricular duties outlined by the
teacher/administrator,
· comply with all school board policies and State laws relative to special education
classroom operations,
· assist the teacher in implementing daily and long-range lesson plans,
· utilize planning time effectively,
· assist the teacher in the preparation of classroom materials,
· assist the teacher in providing for the individual needs, abilities and interests of
the students,
· assume classroom duties as outlined by the classroom teacher,
· exhibit the necessary physical, mental and emotional ability to execute duties as
outlined by the teacher and administrator,
· perform other duties as assigned by the administrator and/or teacher.
Terms of Employment: Ten-months a year with salary to be established by the Franklin County School Board
Evaluation: Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the
School Board’s policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of
classified personnel.
