Administrative Assistant for the Transportation Department

JOB DESCRIPTION ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT FOR THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

To coordinate daily transportation business in an efficient and professional manner; to serve as receptionist, secretary and records clerk for the transportation department.

Qualifications:  

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.

• Must demonstrate a previous dependable work ethic and attendance record.

• Must possess knowledge of basic office procedures with a good background in computer related software.

• Must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable and able in dealing with the public and departmental personnel.

Reports to: Director of Operations

  Supervisor of Transportation

Performance Responsibilities:

• to receive and route incoming telephone calls. 

• to receive and assist outside visitors, bus drivers and other school employees.

• to assort and route all incoming and outgoing mail and messages.

• to write purchase orders, submit invoices for payment, complete payroll reports and performs other routines associated with this office.

• to prepare report to be submitted to the school board office and the Department of Education.

• to assist in the preparation of the annual budget for the transportation department.

• to maintain accurate attendance records for all personnel.

• to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or director.

Terms of Employment: Salary and conditions to be established by the Board.

Evaluation:  

Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of classified personnel.
