Print Shop / Purchasing Assistant - Temporary (Summer Help)

Job Summary

To perform a variety of duties assisting in printing, binding, collating, processing and preparing printed materials; and to assist print shop staff in general printing operations.  Part time position, seasonal summer work.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

·         Operates a variety of print shop equipment including binder, folder, jogger, cutter, special binding, and staplers

·         Collates materials both manually and with machinery

·         Operates production copiers efficiently and effectively with training

·         Able to work with WebCRD software in accepting submitted jobs for printing, completing jobs

·         Reviews jobs for copyright compliance

·         Maintains paper stock and inventory and communicates with supervisor when additional supplies are required

·         Able to communicate with customers regarding details of a work order

·         Able to provide excellent customer service

·         Processes job orders within established time service parameters

·         Assists in administering solicitations for the School Board as assigned by the Coordinator of Purchasing

·         Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list, clarifies unclear items and resolves any backordered items

·         Assists in the distribution of supplies and equipment throughout the school division

·         Assists in surplus property management and disposal

·         Performs other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Purchasing and/or the Director of Business and Finance

 

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Abilities

·         High school diploma or GED

·         Knowledge of production machine operation

·         Knowledge of general types of materials used in printing

·         Knowledge of safe work practices

·         Ability to set up and operate photocopy machines

·         Ability to learn to operate a variety of binding, collating, and other equipment related to print shop operations

·         Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

·         Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

·         Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear. 

 

·         Able to lift 50 lbs. or more and remain standing for long periods of time.

 

Experience and Training Guidelines

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Some experience in operating a variety of production copiers and print shop equipment is desirable.

Training:

Equivalent to high school diploma and any higher levels of education and/or experience.

 

Terms of Employment

This position is a part-time, seasonal summer position.  Salary to be established by the school Board.

This position reports to the Coordinator of Purchasing.

 

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board’s policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
