RESOLUTION NO. 05-05
A RESOLUTION OF CENSURE.
WHEREAS, the City Council reviewed, on August 22nd, 2005, a Council Code of Ethics and Conduct for all City Council Meetings; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it imperative that all persons, public and staff, conducting business with the City Council be treated in a professional and courteous manner; and,
WHEREAS, during the August 22", 2005 meeting, it is deemed that Councilor Doug Durrett initiated disparaging, unwarranted and unprofessional remarks toward a member of the City staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Sodaville City Council resolves that Councilor Durrett’s actions during the above Council Meeting are not acceptable to the Council as a whole and his disparaging remarks do not reflect the position or feelings of the remainder of the Council. Therefore, his conduct is hereby censured. He is reminded by the remainder of the Council of the City’s’ policy as expressed and warned that any consequences of conduct in violation of the City’s policy will be his personal responsibility for which the City will offer him neither defense nor indemnity. He is admonished to treat citizens and City employees with dignity and respect, and that the City policy in this regard extends, as a rule of the Council, to his statements and conduct as a City Councilor during meetings of the Council.
