City Recorder's Message

New City Recorder

Hello there! My name is Alex McHaddad, and I’m excited to serve my new neighbors in the home of Oregon’s first state park! I recently moved to Linn County to take this position, and I’m excited to provide you with first rate municipal services at the direction of the Council. These are troubled times for our country, but I am happy to be part of the solution. High on my agenda during the transition is working with the state and federal governments to use grant money for necessaryupgrades to City water infrastructure.

Transparency is important to me as a civil servant. My last local government position was managing Oregon’s only TV translator district, a role that required me to broadcast several local  government meetings in northeast Oregon during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic to keep elected officials operating in view of the people.

I bring ten years of public policy experience to this role, including service on several local, state, and federal bodies. In my spare time, I am a published author and a part-time journalist at EOAlive TV in La Grande. City Hall is open for business, so visit me during office hours or schedule an appointment to discuss City affairs. Reach me at my person cell if necessary: 541-805-2630.

Best regards,

Alex

Public Works Update

Soda Springs park restrooms will be reopening April 4th 2022.

Something to think about

The average household septic system should be inspected at least every three years by a septic service professional. Household septic tanks are typically pumped every three to five years. Alternative systems with electrical float switches, pumps, or mechanical components should be inspected more often, generally once a year. A service contract is important since alternative systems have mechanized parts. Don't take your septic system for granted.
