Election Reminder
Have you ever thought about running for office? Serving as an elected official is a sacred duty in our republic. Sodaville has 4 City Councilors and the Mayor who together comprise the City Council. The Mayor serves a 2-year term, while 2 Councilors serve a 4-year term. Sodaville’s Mayor and 2 Councilors will be on the ballot this November, and citizens are encouraged to run.
In order to be elected, individuals registered to vote within the boundaries of the Sodaville city limits must file for either Mayor or City Council by August 30. Under State law, the election form must be accompanied by a number of signatures equivalent to at least 1% of the number of people who voted in the election for Governor the last that position was elected to a full 4-year term (2018). 158 people vote for Governor in Sodaville in 2018, so individuals who wish to run for City Council must obtain at least two signatures from people registered to vote within the Sodaville city limits.
Election filing forms must be obtained from Sodaville City Hall and filed with me so that I may submit the paperwork to the Linn County Clerk. Visit me in City Hall or call for more information.

FRIENDLY CITY ORDINANCE REMINDERS
City property and parks are CLOSED from dusk until dawn.
Absolutely NO alcohol, drugs, or cigarettes are allowed on city properties or in parks.
Please maintain your lawns, keep all grass & weeds below 10” tall.
Please keep all grass, weeds & blackberry bushes out of ditches & out of roadways lining your property.
Quiet time is from 9PM until 6AM, please be respectful to others. This includes EXCESSIVE dog barking!
While walking your dog, clean up your dog’s poo in the yard/driveway they use. YOU ARE ON CAMERA!
If your trashcan spills over into the streets and ditches, please clean it up.

Public Works Update
Yes water restrictions are still in effect. No we have not had to start trucking in water. Thanks to the majority of citizens that have been conserving water.
WHAT IS 811?
811 is the national call-before-you-dig phone number. Anyone who plans to dig should call 811 or go to their state 811 center’s website a few business days before digging to request that the approximate location of buried utilities be marked with paint or flags so that you don’t unintentionally dig into an underground utility line.
811 protects you and your community! Hitting a buried line while digging can disrupt utility service, cost money to repair, or cause serious injury or death. Always contact your 811 center, wait the required time for utilities to respond to your request, and ensure that all utilities have responded to your request before putting a shovel in the ground.

UTILITY ASSISTANCE
Sodaville residents who need assistance paying water bills may now receive assistance through Community Services Consortium in Albany. The winter application season for the general public opened December 1st. Individuals who need urgent utility assistance due to emergencies, including service shutoff, may contact CSC at any time.
