Mayor's Message

Welcome to Summer Sodaville:

As we go into summer, please remember to conserve water. Don’t waste it. Shut off your household faucets when not in use. Fix leaky pipes and hoses. If you have a hard time remembering to turn off your hose, you might consider getting a water timer so it shuts off automatically.

Fire season is upon us, so please try to keep a defensible space around houses, sheds, and barns by keeping weeds and grass cut short and flammables stored properly.

In a month or so, I will be asking for volunteers to help put the fence up around the sports court, if you have any knowledge on how to put up fencing or if you just want to help, please volunteer. Stay safe and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Thank You from

Mayor Brian Lewis

City Recorder's Message

The 2023 Oregon Legislative Session has come to an end! Rep. Jami Cate secured a matching grant of $370,000 to help the City add a well to our system and final fix our annual water shortages. City Hall office hours will now be 8AM-4PM Monday-Thursday.

Public Works Director's Message

As those that have been here a while know, as summer progresses the cities water production lacks in keeping with demand. When this happens we have to pay Lebanon and a trucking company to bring us supplemental water. Then we have to enact water restrictions, which increases the cost of water for most everyone. Please be conscientious of your water use and waste. The city council has chosen to no longer offer forgiveness to those with broken pipes nor large leaks. This is mainly impart to the early detection with the new metering system, as well as the high cost of trucking in water. No we are not in water restrictions YET, but the potential is near.

July facts

The first international phone call Can you hear me now? It was on July 1,1881 that the first ever international phone call was successfully made. The call originated in the Canadian province of New Brunswick and was received in the US state of Maine. How we would love to be eavesdropping on that call!

Tough times for the gardener July is known for its dry conditions including a lack of rain. This allows for weeds to thrive and insects to hatch.

But it’s cold down there While it may be hot north of the Equator, people living in the southern half of the world see their coldest temperatures in July. In fact, the most severe cold season on record happened in July 1983 near the South Pole. There was an extreme temperature of -129°F/-89.6°C. That’s weather only a penguin could love!
