City Recorder’s Message

Happy New Year, Sodaville!

New elected officials will be sworn in at this month’s city council meeting. Councilor Brian Lewis will become Mayor, Mayor Roger Perry will return to Council, and Joe Parsons will replace Ray Jackman. We thank Councilor Jackman for his service! All are invited to the Council meeting to wish him well.

We recently addressed a long outstanding issue of back taxes that accrued on city property transferred to Sodaville in 2014. Tax liabilities of a former owner were transferred to the City, gathering interest and inviting liability without the Council’s knowledge. Thanks to the help of County Commissioner Will Tucker, Linn County agreed to pay the taxes and the City no longer has this liability.

Happy January,

Alex McHaddad, City Recorder
