City Recorder’s Message
Happy Black History Month, Sodaville!
The Oregon Legislative Assembly began its biannual “long” session in January, with a constitutional deadline to conclude in June. I joined Councilor Joseph Parsons in January at a rally for Oregon cities in Salem where we heard from Governor Tina Kotek and legislative leaders. Later that day, I met with staff from the office of Representative Jami Cate to discuss the League of Oregon Cities homelessness package, which would provide funding for homelessness prevention and infrastructure to every city in Oregon. The City Council held a work session on February 8th to discuss water rates.
Happy February,
Alex McHaddad, City Recorder

February strange facts:
February was officially added to the Roman calendar in 713 B.C. by Numa Pompilius, the second king of Rome.
One of the most interesting facts about the month of February is that February was named from the Latin word “februum”, which actually means purification.
American astronaut and engineer John Glen Jr. became the first American to orbit our Earth on 10th February 1962.
