Mutual network:
1. 找出和Wellman有mutual relationship,且還要和Wellman的mutual followers相互關注(這些人更容易接觸到網絡中的資訊與情感)
2. 收集兩次:Aug. 2009 、Feb. 2010
Name network
1. 3112 messages (Wellman發文或RT)
2. 收集一段時間:Apr. 2009-Feb. 2010.

Benedict Anderson’s Imagined Communities
1. Common language:W’s mutual network確實有特別的語言習慣,但是很難推論這些習慣是怎麼產生的、來自哪裡。不過,不過,使用這些語言習慣,代表使用者更接近W社群。
2. Temporality 時間感:Twitter 使用者對時間的意識很強,只要超過兩小時都算是「過時」。重大事件都能即時在Twitter上成為頭條新聞,可能twitter user對於即時新聞的反應力很快!
3. High centers:除了知名人士機構帳號擁有眾多follower;(沒這麼熱門的)其他人也可是個人網絡中的中心,所以Twitter不算是去中心化結構
Jones’s Virtual Settlement
1. Interactivity 互動程度:利用之前收集的3112筆tweets分析
2. A variety of communicators 兩個以上的人:56 people in Wellman’s mutual network
3. A common public place where members can meet and interact

McMillan and Chavis’s Sense of Community
1. Membership
比較two networks(total vs mutual), 用QAP 相關分析。同時被提到的名字,很容易成為mutual。沒有被提到的,也因為看得到這些tweets會有社群感。
Clustering coefficient 社群內的小圈圈
External-internal index測量社群vs小圈圈向心力(-1< n < 1)
W’s mutuals 可以根據學術興趣分成6群。越多人的小圈圈趨近於-1(小圈圈的互動多於W社群),人數少的則對社群較有向心力
2. Influence 對社群成員的影響力:Wellman發布和RT的文章,更容易被mutual傳出去。顯示W對mutual影響力偏大
3. Integration and fulfillment of needs 滿足需求:成員可以很自在地發問回答、分享情感、滿足需求
4. Shared emotional connection(ex. 分享幽默文章)
Conclusion
1. 研究中的社群既是真實(成員彼此互動,尤其是mutual),又為想像(網路成員擁有社群意識、為社群奉獻資訊等)。
2. 網路社群成為Twitter平台上非意圖的產物。
推測為何Wellman社群形成原因
1. 核心人物長期和成員互動(線上+線下)
2. 歡迎新加入者,且mutual之間存在互信、專業與資訊
3. 但W社群的成功,可能只是僥倖QQ
