金町浄水場は、大正15年(1926年)8月に給水を開始した施設です。江戸川の右岸にある2基の取水塔から表流水を取り入れ、金町浄水場内へ導水しています。三角形のトンガリ帽子の屋根を持つレンガ造りの第二取水塔は、昭和16年に完成しました。映画「男はつらいよ」シリーズや漫画「こちら葛飾区亀有公園前派出所」にも登場し、その可愛らしいデザインは地域のシンボルとして親しまれています。

Kanamachi water purification plant started water supply in Taisho 15 (1926). It takes water through two intake towers on the right bank of the Edogawa River and guids water into the Kanamachi Purification Plant. The second intake tower with a brick construction has a triangle hat shape roof, was built in 1945. It appeared in the movie "Otoko wa Tsurai yo (It's tough being a man)" series and manga "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen mae Hashutsujo (Police station in front of Kameari Park Katsushika ward)", and its lovely design is popular as a symbol of the area.
