この古い井戸は　昭和13年　東京府第四道路出張所において　掘り抜いたもので　その後　機構改革等の変遷により　昭和21年　東京都第五建設事務所となり　水質の関係で再度60メートルに掘り下げ現在に至ったものです。この周辺は江東地帯と共に　軟弱地帯であり　多い年で約５センチメートル近い　地盤沈下の　傾向が見られます。ここにある井戸は　その経過を知るためにも貴重な資料です。なお　その沈下量を目盛りで表しております。

This old well was dug out at the 4th Road Branch Office in Tokyo Prefecture in 1938, and then became the 5th Construction Office in Tokyo in 1945 due to changes in structural reforms, etc., and was dug down to 60 meters again due to water quality. This area is a soft area as the same as the Koto area, there is a tendency for land subsidence of approx 5 cm per year in the cases. This well is a valuable material for knowing the progress. The amount of subsidence is shown on a scale.
