この地蔵尊は、源珍僧都（げんしんそうづ）という方です。源珍は、寛正6年(1455年)に生まれ25歳で高野山に入山しました。大永元年(1521年)に大火による諸堂焼失にあい、その復興勧進のため薬師如来を携え全国行脚に旅立ちました。 四国山中で歩行困難の病(脚気)で倒れましたが、村人が彼に恵比須天像と蕎麦粉を捧げました。彼はそれをもって山中にこもり、21日間の修行を行いました。満願の日に谷間に下りてそば練りをつくろうとしたとき、水底に砂金を見つけました。大いに驚いて｢恵比須天にそばを奉るはかかる効力ある故ならん｣と喜び、病も癒えて再び行脚をはじめました。そして「そばを食するものは命長く、脚気に病める者癒え、商人においては恵比須天を祀り、そばを供えて礼拝すれば商売繁昌に成る｣と、蕎麦の効用を説きました。

This Jizo is a man named Genshinsozu. He was born in 1455 (Kansei 6th) and entered into Mt. Koya-san for ascetic at 25 years old. In 1521 (Daiei 1st), many budddest hall were burn down by big fire. He took a trip with Bhaisajyaguru statue to the whole country for the revival promotion. He got ill with difficulty walking (beriberi) among the Shikoku mountains, then the villagers gave him statue of Ebisu Tenji and soba flour. He stayed in the mountain with it and practiced for twenty one days. The final day, he went down to the valley and tried to make soba noodles, at that time, he found gold in the bottom of the water. He was so surprised and he said that succeed Ebisuten with soba nuudles be good. He also got rid of his illness and began to go to trip again. He said those who eat soba nuodles are long-lived, healing sick of legged, succeed Ebisuten with soba noodles be success in business.
