「六十六部」とは、全国六十六ヶ国の霊場に巡拝して功徳を得る六十六部廻国聖で、起源は平安時代終期にまで遡ると言われています。江戸時代には、諸国を回って歩く途中の村で、村人に勧進して石碑や供養塔を建てたりしたそうです。この供養塔は、明和6年(1769)に建てられたと刻まれています。

"Rokuju-Rokubu" (66 copies of the Lotus Sutra) is a pilgrimage to the sacred sites of 66 countries nationwide to gain merit. It is said that the origin back to the end of the Heian period. During the Edo period, in a village on the way to the countries, pilgrims encouraged the villagers to build stone monuments and memorial towers. This pagoda is engraved it was built in Meiwa 6 (1769).
