『男はつらいよ』は、葛飾柴又と日本各地を舞台にした映画です。1969年(昭和44年)の第1作から全50作品が作られました。1999年に寅さん像が設置されました。その後、多くの人から振り返る寅さんの視線の先に見送るさくらさんがいてほしいという声が寄せられ、寅さん像の18年後の2017年に、この見送る妹さくらの銅像が設置されました。

The movie "Otoko wa Tsurai yo (It's tough being a man)" is a movie set in Katsushika Shibamata and various areas in Japan. The first movie was released in 1969, total 50 works have been made. Tora san statue was built in 1999. After that, there are so many request for Sakura the statue being there where Tora-san's looking back of sight. In 2017, 18 years after the statue of Tora-san, a statue of his sister Sakura was erected who is seeing off his brother.
