From February 26, 1936 to February 29, Showa 11 (1936), youth officers of the Army who were influenced by the Imperial Way Faction, tried to carry coup d'etat with 1,483 petty officers and soldiers. This is the February 26 Incident. The coup d'etat was unsuccessful, mastermind of the case, and thinkers who enlightened the ideological foundations of officers were executed by firing squad, and the Okada Cabinet resigned in March. At that time, Mr. Yoshiro Shimizu, who was a police officer at the Suginami Police Department and Kojimachi Police Department (in the Prime Minister's Office position), suffered an incident while he was on duty at the Prime Minister's Office, and died after being shot by a machine gun. Repay to his spirit, Prime Minister Okada erected this tombstone in June.
