山田洋次氏は、日本を代表する映画監督、脚本家、演出家であり、日本映画界の第一人者です。『幸福の黄色いハンカチ』『釣りバカ日誌』『たそがれ清兵衛』など沢山の有名な作品がありますが、最も有名な代表作品といえば『男はつらいよ』、葛飾柴又と日本各地を舞台にした映画です。山田洋次監督は、寅さん記念館名誉館長・葛飾区名誉区民であり、1996年に紫綬褒章、2012年に文化勲章を受章しています。「山田洋次ミュージアム」では、これまでに山田洋次監督が携わってきた数々の作品や映画づくりへの思いが、9つのテーマで展示されています。

Mr. Yoji Yamada is a film director, screenwriter, and director who is one of Japan's leader of the motion picture culture and industry. There are many famous works such as "The Yellow Handkerchief of Happiness", "Tsuribaka Nisshi", "Tasogare Seibei" and so on. The must famous works is "Otoko wa Tsurai yo (It's tough being a man)" which set in Katsushika Shibamata and various areas in Japan. He is the Honorary Director of the Tora-san Museum and the Honorary Citizen of Katsushika City. He received the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 1996 and the Order of Culture in 2012. At the "Yoji Yamada Museum," you can see his thoughts on making movies and numerous works he has been involved in nine themes showcase.
