山田検校(1757-1817)は、江戸時代中期の箏曲家です。彼は幼くして視力を失い、箏曲の道に入りました。彼は、箏を主奏楽器とする、いわゆる箏浄瑠璃とも言うべき新しいスタイルの音楽を創案しました。現在のお墓は、1928年の関東大震災後、ここに移されました。

Yamada Kengyo (1757-1817) is a Koto (Japanese harp) player in the middle of the Edo period. He started to learn Koto music because he lost his eyesight in his childhood. He invented the new style of music, which is so-called Koto concerto to play a main melody by Koto. The grave was moved here in 1928, after the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.
