牛頭天王(ごずてんのう)は元々は仏教の神ですが、日本における神仏習合の神となり、釈迦の生誕地に因む祇園精舎の守護神とされています。また陰陽道では、天道神と同一視される神です。創建年は不詳ですが、元文4年(1739)には既にあったと推察されます。

Gozu Tenno is was originally a Buddhist god and being the god of the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism in Japan. It's said to be the guardian deity of Gionshoja Temple, which is associated with the birthplace of Buddha. In Onmyodo, it is equated with the Tendou god. Its founding year is not clarified, but it's presumed that already existed in 1739.
