Gompachi Pond (natural habitat of Nymphoides peltata)

水辺のいきもの館の東側のごんぱち池は、都内唯一のアサザの自生地です。アサザは水面に直径は5~10cmのハート形の葉を浮かべる水草で、5月~10月に明るい黄色の花が咲きます。花は3~5cmの黄色の5花弁で、花びらは薄く、縁は糸状に切れ込んで裂けてフリルのようになっています。一日花で午前中に開き夕方には閉じてしまいます。準絶滅危惧に指定されています。

In Gonpachi Pond on the east side of the Waterside Ikimonokan, there is a natural habitat of Nymphoides peltata, and it is the only place in Tokyo. Nymphoides peltata is a waterweed with heart-shaped leaves 5 to 10 cm in diameter on the surface of the water, and bright yellow flowers bloom from May to October. The flowers are 3 to 5 cm yellow with 5 petals, the petals are thin, and the edges are cut into threads like frills. It's one-day flowers, bloom in the morning and closed in the evening. It is designated as Near Threatened.
