～タブの木の経緯～

中川橋東橋詰にあったタブの木は、昔から街道を往来する人々の”道しるべ”であったと伝えられており、地元住民から長く親しまれてきました。しかし、平成4年(1992)から始まった中川橋架替え事業に伴い行った樹木調査の結果、移植が不可能な状況であったため、やむなく伐採されることとなりました。現在植えられているタブの木は、伐採に先立って穂を採取し、育てた苗木です。また、”旧中川橋の名残”として、苗木の他、以前のタブの木の一部で製作したモニュメント、及び旧中川橋両岸の親柱を設置しております。

- History of the tab tree -

It was said that the Machilus at Nakaga bridge east bridge guard was a "road guide" for people coming and going on the Kaido road (highway), and it had long been familiar to the local citizens. However, as a result of a tree survey conducted by Nakagawa Bridge replacement project that started in Heisei 4 (1992), it was impossible to transplant, so unfortunately, the tree was forced to be cut down. The trees currently being planted are saplings that have been harvested and raised. In addition to it, as a "remains of the old Nakagawa Bridge", there is a monument made from a part of the old tree, and the main pillars on both banks of the old bridge.
