上平井水門は、径30メートル✕4門のローラーゲート式水門で、中川と綾瀬川が合流する地点に位置し、江戸川区、葛飾区、足立区の低地帯を高潮の侵入から守るための防潮水門です。昭和45(1970)年に設置されました。台風などによる高潮や津波が発生し河川の水位が上昇したとき、大きな地震があったとき閉鎖します。

Kamihirai Water Gate is a roller gate type sluice with 30 meters x 4 shutters and was installed at the point where the Nakagawa and Ayase River meet in Showa 45th (1970). It is a flood control gate that protects the lowlands Edogawa, Katsushika and Adachi City from tide intrusion. It closes when there is a high tide or a tsunami caused by a typhoon and the water level in the river rises, or when there is a large earthquake.
