【葛飾区指定名勝 | Katsushika City-designated place of scenic beauty】

6月初旬から中旬にかけて虹彩の花が満開の人気観光スポットのひとつです。一説には、室町時代地頭が、種子を持って来て自邸に培養させたのが始めと言われています。江戸時代には「江戸百景」に数えられ、名所案内や紀行文、鈴木春信・歌川広重の浮世絵にも描かれています。2016年7月から1年半かけて改良工事が行われ、2018年4月2日にリニューアルオープンしました。

It is one of the popular sightseeing spot where the iris flowers are in full bloom from the beginning of June to the middle. In one opinion, it is said the lord of a manor orderd to bring seeds and cultured in their house in Muromachi period. In the Edo era it is counted as "Edo Hundred Scenery", and it appeared in the sightseeing guide and travelogue, and also appeared in Ukiyoe by Harunobu Suzuki and Utagawa Hiroshige. Improvement work had been carried from July 2016 for a year and a half, and renewal opened on April 2, 2018.
