Biographie in English

Iryna Tsilyk is an author born in Kiev, Ukraine. Graduated from Kiev National University of Theatre, Cinematography and Television named by Karpenko-Karyy summa cum laude. Works as director and AD in a film industry. Author and director of short films “Blue Hour” (10’, 2008), “Commemoration” (24’, 2012), “Home” (12’, 2016).

Also, Iryna Tsilyk is a poet, prose writer and songwriter. Author of books published in Ukraine: “Qi” (collection of poems, 2007), “The Day After Yesterday” (novel, 2008), “Awesome Ukraine” (reference English-language edition about Ukraine, 2012), “Birthmarks” (short story collection, 2013), “Red Marks on Black” (short story collection, 2015), “Such an interesting life” (children’s book, 2015), “The City-tale of One’s Friendship” (children’s adventure novel, 2016) and “Depth of field” (collection of poems, 2016).

Some of her poems and short stories have been translated into English, German, Polish, Lithuanian, Czech and Swedish languages, were presented at several international literary festivals.

Iryna lives in Kyiv together with her husband and their son. Iryna’s husband Artem Chekh is a writer too. During the Russian-Ukrainian war 2014-2017 he was called up by the Ukrainan Armed Forces, but currently he’s discharged.
