Michel Bourret Guasteví

Michel Bourret Guasteví was born in the North of France in 1959. Poet and translator, he lives and works between Northern and Central Catalonia. From 1995 to 2021 he worked as a professor in Contemporary Spanish Literature at the Paul Valéry University  in Montpellier. He also taught literature and translation at the universities of Reims, Perpignan and Barcelona (UAB).


As a poet, he published twenty collections of poems in French as well as in Catalan. As a translator, he has rendered into French the works of autors as diverse as Joan Margarit, Montserrat Roig, Ponç Pons, Pere Gomila, Maria Mercè Marçal, Jordi Julià, Míriam Tirado or his great-uncle Gumersind Gomila, among other outstanding Catalan authors.


He is a member of the Catalan Language and Literature  section of the Institut Menorquí d’Estudis [Minorquian Institute of Studies].


Since he’s retired, he teaches workshops on poetry at the Arrels-Vernet Maternal and Primary School, where he’s known as “Mixi, the clown”. He is part of the Arrels Radio advisory board as well. Recently appointed as responsible for «Germanor», the Catalan section of the literary occitan review revista ÒC, he plans to make new Catalan poetic voices be known, mainly those from Norther Catalonia.
