Renada-Laura Portet is a Catalan writer of poetry and prose fiction from Sant Pau de Fenollet. A linguist specializing in Catalan onomastics, she has published Els noms de lloc del Rosselló (Vila de Perpinyà Prize 1981), Toponímia rossellonesa (1983), and many other books.


In addition to her work as Professor and Researcher, she has explored many fields of literature. She has published three collections of poetry: Jocs de convit (1990), Una ombra anomenada obit (1992), and El cant de la Sibil·la (1994), self-translated into French and published in that language two years later. She has also written a great number of books of prose fiction, such as Castell negre (Víctor Català Prize 1981), L’escletxa (finalist for the Sant Jordi Prize 1983), Riga & Rigaud (finalist for the Josep Pla Prize 2002), the collection Una dona t’escriu (Ramon Juncos Prize 2004), and Duoda, contessa de Barcelona (2008).


Portet is included in anthologies in the United States, Italy, France, Catalonia, and Germany, for example Moderne Katalanische Erzahlungen (1988). Robert Guisset has dedicated a literary film/portrait to her called Renada’s Song (1991). In addition to many literary prizes, this Sòcia d’honor of the Associació d’’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana has been awarded important honorary distinctions such as the Palmes Acadèmiques at the level of Official (1988) and the Creu de Sant Jordi from the Generalitat de Catalunya (2004).
