Biography in English

Danièla Julien is an author from Tarascon (Occitany). She has been working in the field of education for many years, first of all as a teacher and later on as a trainer of teachers in language and Occitan culture at the IUFM in Nimes. PhD in Occitan Studies, she has written a number of academic articles and contributed to several journals, including, notably, Autour de Nîmes et de sa région (2004). Professional storyteller for children and adults, she has participated in numerous literary and other cultural events.

Regarding fiction, she has published, among others, Viatge d’ivèrn (1999), a poetry collection; and Adieu Paure… , a collection of short stories which was awarded the Les Taliures Prize by the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs in 2007. Two other books are coming soon: the poetry collection Farfantèlas; and Letras, an Occitan/French bilingual collection of short stories.

As a translator, she has published Le petit Décaméron (2008), a collection of short stories by Robert Lafont, originally written in Occitan.
