Maria Tarragó was born in Barcelona and has been living in Majorca since 1989. She graduated in English Philology at theUniversity of Barcelona. She has devoted her working life to teaching English in Secondary Education, she is now retired. She worked as assistant teacher of English in the department of Spanish, Modern and Latin Philology of the Balearic Islands University from 2005 to 2007. During this period, she was a member of the research groups The expression of diversity in the English-speaking world and Women and letters. She made presentations on the Canadian author Margaret Atwood and the American Marge Piercy.

As part of the cycle Women who read to women who write she gave a conference on feminine characters in the book Dones (Women) by Isabel Clara Simó. On the 2nd October 2019 she presented Sílvia Aymerich-Lemos’Catalan translation of Menna Elfyn’s Murmur / Murmuri at the bookshop Embat in Palma.
